Efforts of individuals and groups in developing dictionaries of computer terminology in Arabic.

Abstract

In this work, we attempt to present encyclopedias and dictionaries specialized in computer terminology in Arabic, summarizing those we believe exist in this field and were published in print between the years 1990 and 2011. We exclude illustrated dictionaries that can be found on the internet. We have organized these dictionaries by their year of publication and categorized them based on their authors; if issued by a center or academic institution, we classify them as collective efforts, while those authored by individuals are listed as individual efforts. The purpose of this work is to explore the efforts of individuals and groups in developing dictionaries of computer terminology in Arabic. This topic is important not only for specialists in the field but also for students in schools and the general public who need these terms, given that computers and their components have become essential and widely used tools in daily life across various societal groups.
