To discuss linguistic renewal is a particular temptation, given the phrase's dual nature, combining its explicit meaning with its underlying implications. While it appears that language—regardless of its family—succumbs to historical laws as living entities do, responding to emerging signs, the most precise aspect behind the principle of linguistic renewal lies in addressing the fundamental question: Does linguistic phenomena renew themselves inherently under the authority of history, or is their renewal an intentional act performed by humans—individually or collectively—based on their role as decision-makers exercising historical authority over all social phenomena?
