Conflict of Interest Policy

General Provisions

All authors, reviewers, and editorial board members must disclose any affiliations that may constitute a conflict of interest related to manuscripts submitted for publication in Majallatu Almajmaʻi Aljazāʼirīyi lillughati alArabīyah (Journal of Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language).

A conflict of interest includes any financial relationship or affiliation that may affect objectivity, integrity, or the interpretation of the publication. Examples include relationships with companies whose products or services are related to the subject of the manuscript. These relationships may involve employment, stock ownership or investment funds, membership in a permanent advisory board or committee, board of directors membership, or public association with the company or its products. Other conflict areas include consulting fees, patent applications, paid speaking engagements, or services rendered for compensation. Additional examples include past or current relationships such as being a thesis supervisor or student, or having a familial relationship.

When an author or editor discloses a conflict of interest, a footnote is added to the published article describing the nature of the conflict.

Conflict of Interest Policy: Authors

When submitting their manuscripts, authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and identify all sources of funding that supported the research. This information must be included in the acknowledgments section of the article. The corresponding author is responsible for confirming with all co-authors the existence or absence of any conflict of interest. Recent collaborators—defined as individuals who have co-authored a paper or participated in a funded project with the author in the past 48 months—must not serve as reviewers or editors for the manuscript.

Conflict of Interest Policy: Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors are expected to recuse themselves from handling any manuscript if a conflict of interest prevents them from making an impartial scientific judgment. A reviewer must not accept an invitation to review a manuscript if they cannot do so objectively. If a conflict of interest exists and the reviewer or editor believes they can still provide an unbiased evaluation, they must disclose the nature of the conflict to the journal. The Editor-in-Chief will not make editorial decisions for manuscripts that were commissioned or solicited by the Editor-in-Chief.

Potential Conflicts of Interest Among Reviewers

The review invitation letter will include the following paragraph:

“If you know or suspect the identity of the author, and if you feel there is any potential conflict of interest due to your relationship with the author (such as close friendship or rivalry) or for any other reason, please disclose it. By accepting this invitation, you affirm that no potential conflict of interest exists.”

As a general principle, reviewers with conflicts of interest will not be assigned to the manuscript, although the editorial board retains discretion after consulting its members.

Submission of a Manuscript by an Editor

When an editor submits a manuscript, another editor who has no conflict of interest and does not work at the same institution will be assigned to handle the manuscript, select reviewers, and make all related editorial decisions.

Submission of a Manuscript by an Author Affiliated with the Same Institution as an Editor

If a manuscript is submitted by an author affiliated with the same institution as an editor, another editor with no conflict of interest will be assigned to handle the manuscript, select reviewers, and make all editorial decisions.

Submission of a Manuscript by a Relative or Close Associate of an Editor

If a manuscript is submitted by a family member of an editor, or by an author with whom the editor has a relationship that could raise concerns of bias (such as close friendship or rivalry), responsibility for handling the manuscript, selecting reviewers, and making all editorial decisions will be assigned to another editor. In case of uncertainty, the editors will consult with the Editor-in-Chief.

Majallatu Almajmaʻi Aljazāʼirīyi lillughati alArabīyah (Journal of Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language) reserves the right to publish a correction disclosing any conflict(s) of interest related to a previously published article. Authors, reviewers, or editors who intentionally fail to disclose a conflict of interest may face sanctions, including a temporary ban on publishing in Majallatu Almajmaʻi Aljazāʼirīyi lillughati alArabīyah (Journal of Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language).

This policy applies to all materials published in Majallatu Almajmaʻi Aljazāʼirīyi lillughati alArabīyah (Journal of Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language).
