Abstract

The most significant problem posed by language education lies in selecting the linguistic material, structures, and styles that the learner needs in their daily and professional life. Language education specialists have long recognized the issue of excessive content regarding vocabulary and, conversely, the lack of essential vocabulary and structures. Numerous attempts to rectify this imbalance emerged in Europe during the first half of the last century, especially during World War II, aiming to make language education meet learners' needs rather than merely ensuring linguistic correctness. There were also two attempts in Arab countries in the 1970s, including the linguistic repertoire project. We will discuss the topic of the linguistic repertoire below and offer some suggestions for its development in line with intellectual and cultural advancements. Additionally, we will present a plan for a new project to invest in this repertoire rationally and thus beneficially.
